Dr Helen Hoang is an economist, bestselling author, educator and founder dedicated to helping children understand the world through economic thinking, storytelling and practical learning.
As the creator of Economics for Kids, Helen is building a growing ecosystem of books, games, workshops and educational innovations that make economics accessible, engaging and relevant for children, families and schools.
MY STORY
The idea for Economics for Kids began with a simple question from my son:
“Why can’t we have everything at once?”
As an economist and mother, I realised that many of the questions children ask every day are actually economic questions.
- Questions about choices.
- Questions about fairness.
- Questions about money.
- Questions about technology.
- Questions about the future.
Yet most children never have the opportunity to learn economics in a way that is meaningful and age-appropriate.
That simple question inspired a mission that continues today: helping children understand the world through economic thinking.
MY MISSION
Every Child Deserves Economic Education
Economics is not just about money.
It is about making choices, solving problems and understanding how the world works.
My mission is to make economics accessible, ethical and engaging through stories, games and real-world learning experiences.
By helping children develop economic thinking from an early age, we can empower them to become more confident decision-makers, responsible citizens and future-ready learners.
