Economics for Kids (EconTech) Moves to New Innovation Hub at Game Plus, Canberra Technology Park

Economics for Kids (EconTech), the award-winning education venture founded by Dr Helen Hoang, has officially relocated to a new office at Game Plus, located within Canberra Technology Park.

The move marks a significant milestone in EconTech’s growth as it expands its digital game development capabilities and accelerates the creation of immersive economic learning experiences for children.

Founded by economist and Amazon bestselling author Dr Helen Hoang, Economics for Kids has evolved from a storytelling-based book series into a dynamic EdTech ecosystem combining books, board games, and interactive digital platforms. With support from the ACT Government’s ICON Innovation Connect Grant, EconTech is currently developing its next-generation interactive learning system designed to make economics accessible, ethical, and engaging for children aged 7–13.

“Moving into Game Plus places EconTech at the heart of Australia’s growing game development ecosystem,” said Dr Hoang.
“We are not just teaching economics. We are building the future of inclusive economic education through play, storytelling, and technology.”

Game Plus is Australia’s leading game accelerator and co-working space dedicated to supporting game studios, creative technologists, and digital innovators. By joining this vibrant community, EconTech gains direct access to industry mentors, developers, designers, and cutting-edge gaming infrastructure.

The relocation strengthens EconTech’s strategic focus on:

  • Developing immersive Unity-based educational games
  • Integrating AI-driven adaptive learning systems
  • Scaling inclusive economic education nationally and globally
  • Collaborating with Australia’s growing game innovation network

Located in Bruce, Canberra Technology Park has become a key hub for startups and innovation-driven enterprises. EconTech’s presence within this ecosystem reinforces Canberra’s emerging reputation as a centre for creative technology and educational innovation.

Dr Hoang added:

“Canberra has always been home. Now, it is becoming a launchpad. From this new office, we aim to position EconTech as a global leader in children’s economic literacy powered by game technology.”

The new office at Game Plus will serve as EconTech’s development base for upcoming projects, including immersive mixed-reality learning experiences and scalable subscription-based digital programs for schools.
